A home for an elephant

21 Feb 2013

Longleat estates have submitted a planning application for a new elephant house for an old elephant. Anne is an elderly Asian Elephant who was given shelter by Longleat in 2011 after a life in the circus. The plan is to give her a paddock and a house, and some companions - possibly other retired elephants.

Money for the venture has been provided by generous Daily Mail readers. Longleat also hope to see an increase in visitor numbers rather than the decline they've experienced in recent years.

Details of the application can be seen on the WC planning website - enter reference number W/13/00273/FUL
