A thousand more houses

16 Apr 2014

Wiltshire Council's strategic planning committee has today (April 16) approved applications for more than a thousand new homes.

The larger scheme is on the northern edge of Chippenham, between the B4158 Malmesbury road and the B4069. This is an outline application for 750 houses plus employment land, a local centre, a primary school and a new link road. The applicant is the 'North Chippenham Consortium'. Planning officers recommended permission despite objections from the parish councils and over 100 residents.

The other application was for 292 homes at Erskine Barracks in Wilton. As well as the housing the scheme will include employment space, accomodation for veterans, a care home, retirement accomodation, and a shop. Wilton Town Council supported the plan.
