All Quiet at Bradford on Avon Golf Course

1 Nov 2013

Local residents continue to be vigilant for any signs of possible development on Bradford on Avon golf course.

Concerns were raised by local residents when Wiltshire Council started to discuss its Local Plan.

Proposals for the plan were heard in a public inquiry in June and we are now waiting to hear the conclusions of the government appointed Local Plan inspector.

Residents supported Wiltshire council's view that new homes are not appropriate on the golf course. Reasons included access to the site, the site's former use as a landfill site and impact on local wildlife.

Local MP Duncan Hames has written to the Planning Inspectorate and the Planning Minister, seeking to defend the local plan from developers who would want to build on the golf course.

Cllr Ian Thorn said "I have always been clear that the golf course is not an appropriate place for new homes."

He continued "I'm pleased Wiltshire council has backed local residents. It's important that we remain vigilant to ensure we are ready to respond if a planning application is submitted."
