Calls to protect Salisbury's health and social care

Salisbury's local health and social care is under threat argues local councillors Dr Helena McKeown and Dr James Robertson.

After successfully campaigning to keep Hillcote open for an extra year Helena and James now worry that other local facilities could be at risk.

"The problem in hospitals is that if you lose an emergency service you then lose the non emergency part of the same service for reasons of efficiency," said Dr James Robertson "this diminishes the entire hospital as a whole and potentially leads to closure for savings."

Helena and James have pledged to fight hard along with Salisbury Campaigner Reeten Banerji to protect the remaining services at Salisbury District Hospital and campaign for further investment.

With the great investment locally in youth opportunities and training one option is to make Salisbury a teaching hospital for nurses," said Reeten "Lib Dems have fought for training opportunities across the country and we need more nurse, why shouldn't Salisbury be the place to help teach and train new nurses?"
