Calne Central residents respond to Ian

Thank you to the hundreds of residents who completed our State of Calne survey. The big issues will be no great surprise: traffic congestion, housing, potholes and a lack of shops and community facilities in the town centre.

Proposals to build retirement flats in the centre of town and possibly 57 flats on the site of the Co-op will do nothing to bring shops and community facilities. It's important that local residents speak out on these proposals. On pot holes, Wiltshire Council doesn't currently budget to repair potholes unless it's given a government grant to do so.

This can't be right. Calne has delivered all the houses, and more, it's required to build up until 2026. The biggest challenge now is to improve Calne's road network. There are proposals to improve the traffic calming on Prince Charles Drive and Abberd Way. But how do we open up the High Street, if we can? And how do we end the pinch point at Curzon Street.
