Wiltshire Council has decided not to go ahead with a planned reduction in the speed limit on the B3109 between Hindon and Fonthill Bishop following a representation from Hindon Parish Council.

The Parish Council said that the limit would create a clutter of signs and was unnecessary because of the lack of crashes on the road. Wiltshire Council has reviewed accident records and found that the most recent records do indeed show no injury accidents in the last six years. A previous assessment based on older data showed an injury accident rate above that required for a speed limit to be considered.

So the limit between the villages will remain at 60mph and not go down to 50mph as previously proposed.
