Christie Miller Closure Shock - Focus team take Active action
Following the closure of the Christie Miller Sports Centre local councillor Jon Hubbard has said that there are serious questions that still need to be answered about how the Campus project has ended up in such a mess.
Jon claims that if the early stages of the project had been better managed, and the bill for the Oakfields Stadium had not esculated from £1.9m to almost £7m then the situation would not be what it is today.
However, Jon and his fellow Lib Dem council colleagues believe that positive action is needed now to see the town through the next few years until the new campus facility opens.
Jon and fellow Wiltshire Councillor Hayley Spencer are launching a new website, ActiveMelksham, which they aim will provide a database of the extensive range of sports and fitness facilities still available for Melksham residents - from Aerobics to Martial Arts, Rugby to Yoga and everything in between.
Local groups and venues can sign up to the website absolutely free and share the details of the activities that they offer together with where and when they can be found.
The site also can feature venues that are available for new groups to use, or existing groups now homeless following Christie Millers closure to use.
