Committee approves Melksham Campus proposals

14 May 2014

The application for the demolition of modern extensions to Melksham House and removal of the existing swimming pool, with internal alterations and extensions to Melksham House to provide a new community campus including leisure facilities (2 swimming pools, sports hall, fitness suite, activity studio, indoor bowls, climbing wall) public services (library, multipurpose rooms, offices, cafe) health facility and associated car parking and landscaping, has been passed by the WC Strategic Planning Committee. The committee added informatives to the applicant and changed the conditions slightly in an attempt to address problems raised by neighbours.

Objectors to the scheme mentioned the size and design of the buildings and potential impacts on privacy and amenity of neighbouring properties, possible noise impact from machinery and car park users, and problems with traffic during construction and afterwards
