Concern over Bradford on Avon road closure

Residents and councillors have criticised Wiltshire Council over its handling of the construction of a new roundabout for the Kingston Farm development at Holt Road in Bradford.

The original plan as explained by WC Highways didn't involve a full road closure despite that being the developers' preference. Then with no more than a week's notice and without telling anyone WC put up signs announcing a 20 week closure.

This is likely to cause traffic congestion throughout east Bradford, with drivers looking for shortcuts into town rather than following the lengthy 'official' diversion routes.

Comment - "It's unfortunate that WC seem to have caved into to the developers' wishes rather than considering local residents, drivers and businesses. I hope we'll be able to get a full explanation and justification from the council, and we need to look for ways of at least shortening the closure period."
