Consultation on settlement boundaries

10 Jul 2014

As part of the process of getting a county plan or 'core strategy' in place Wiltshire Council is looking at the boundaries around towns and larger parishes. This is one of the jobs the council was told to do by the government inspector following the recent Inquiry into the plan.

The consultation will run from July 28th to September 22nd.

Settlement boundaries, or policy limits are lines drawn around towns or villages, with the presumption that new housing would normally be allowed within the line, but not outside it.

The consultation is being targeted to involve those parishes that have settlements which incorporate settlement boundaries; and those neighbouring parishes likely to be affected by the changes.

Parish and Town Councils will be sent an information pack regarding the review of settlement boundaries in relation to their area. The packs will provide details of existing and proposed revisions to boundaries.
