Council bids for government transport cash

Two years ago Wiltshire Council was awarded £4.25million from the government's 'Local Sustainable Transport Fund (LSTF). This was used to get the improved rail service on the Melksham line, as well as other improvements to stations and to the transport information website (http://www.connectingwiltshire.co.uk/)
Now the council intends to make another bid to this year's round of funding, If WC is successful the money could be used for:
• Further implementation of town walking and cycling routes to/from the rail stations and other key interchange points.
• Implementation of co-ordinated town walking and cycling signage.
• Further station improvements.
• Further electric vehicle charging points at key hubs.
• Further development and promotion of 'Connecting Wiltshire', Wiltshire's onestop travel web resource (see http://www.connectingwiltshire.co.uk/).
• Delivery of further real time bus-rail information infrastructure.
• Business travel planning (including development of Area Travel Plans at key employment centres).
• Personalised travel planning (PTP) initiatives.
• Marketing and promotion of sustainable travel, including support for Wiltshire rail services, particularly the Trans Wilts train service.
• Combined ticketing initiatives to provide simpler ticketing options, particularly for multi-stage / multi-modal journeys.
Notification of the outcome of the bid is expected to be received in July.
