Wiltshire Council is thinking about the introduction of web casting for some meetings of the council. WC says there might be: "transparency and reputational benefits to the council."

This represents a change of policy for WC which has previously resisted attempts to use modern technology to democratise council activity

However don't get too excited because it won't happen until after the next round of elections in 2013. Leaders of the Conservative, Liberal Democrat, Independent and Labour parties have agreed that a joint statement should be issued on their behalf to confirm that from 2013 the council would be webcasting some of its meetings. This would allow people considering standing for election to be aware that this would be happening.
