Council wins consultation 3370 - nil.

Wiltshire Council's Housing Site Allocations Development Plan Document is set to be approved by the WC 'cabinet' on Tuesday. The formal consultation stage, where representations were invited on the soundness of the Plan, ended on 22 September. Three thousand three hundred and seventy comments were received.

If you were one of the people who responded to the 'consultation' you may feel aggrieved at having your comments ignored. However you're not alone - everyone else's representations have also been dismissed. According to the cabinet report:

"Having reviewed the comments received, Officers consider there are none which raise fundamental issues of soundness that would preclude the submission of the Plan to the Secretary of State for Examination."

The council also has its timelines in a tangle. The document will be endorsed by cabinet and council in July 2018 and then submitted to the government in June 2018. As the report makes clear:

"Subject to Cabinet endorsement and Council approval, submission of the draft Plan, together with the Proposed Changes, will be possible by end June 2018. This accords with the latest Local Development Scheme (September 2017) and will ensure that the Council continues to make timely progress with its Local Plan and improve the supply of housing land. Endorsement of the Proposed Changes is therefore sought along with delegated authority to proceed with the next stages to enable the Plan to move through the submission and Examination stages as efficiently as possible."
