Election Time - its on!

This evening MPs have passed Boris Johnson's bill for a 12th December election by 438 votes to 20.

It will now go to House of Lords for consideration - where it is unlikely to be opposed

Responding to the vote in Parliament tonight for a General Election, Leader of the Liberal Democrats Jo Swinson MP said:

"This General Election will decide the future of our country for generations. It is our best chance to elect a Government to stop Brexit.

"The Liberal Democrats are the strongest party of Remain and will be standing on a manifesto to stop Brexit by revoking Article 50.

"This country deserves better than Boris Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn, and I am excited to take our positive, pro-European, liberal vision to the country as the Liberal Democrat candidate for Prime Minister."

South West Wiltshire's parliamentary candidate Ellen Nicholson says this election is a potential game changer, the future direction of the Country will be decided in just a few weeks time, I want to see a Country that invests in our education system and young people, protects the #NHS and tackles the climate emergency but also see Britain thrive in our partnership in the European Union.
