Faster traffic on Leap Gate

14 Dec 2017

Despite objections from residents Wiltshire Council is to put yellow lines along the road from Green Lane to Huntingfield. This will allow traffic to speed through the development without being slowed by parked cars.

Objectors point out that this will lead to increased danger to pedestrians, including children going to the local primary school.

There will be two stretches of single yellows on the western side of the road. These will allow overnight parking for about 14 cars.

Like most recent developments in the area, the Castlemead estate has been designed with inadequate parking provision. Loss of parking on the main road means residents will be fighting for spaces on the side roads.

In justifying the measures WC says, "Vehicles using Leap Gate will be unhindered in their use. All properties in the vicinity have allocated off-street parking spaces."
