Fleas, flies, wasps, squirrels, Tories charge you more.

Wiltshire Council Conservatives are trying to balance the books by imposing pestilential fees for pest control.

The biggest percentage increase is for cockroaches, where the removal fee goes up from £120 to £200. To get your squirrels dealt with will cost you £120 (50% increase), and if you have ants in your bedrooms the cost is £100 (18%). There are also hikes in the rates for wasps, cluster flies, fleas, and bedbugs. And if you want the council to exterminate your rabbits they'll charge you £95 per hour.

Increases also apply to commercial premises.

There are reduced rates for people on Council Tax benefits.

On a slightly different theme there are massive increases of up to 90% in the fees for civil partnerships and marriages at County Hall - a registration office ceremony will cost you up to £230 depending on time and venue. Burial fees though are being increased by just 10%.
