Government and developer funding for council houses in Trowbridge

14 Jun 2018

£4million is to be spent in building more affordable homes in Trowbridge.

An extra 22 dwellings will go on the Southview Park site, where 28 council homes are already being built.

The homes include a mix of nine one-bed flats, three two-bed flats, five two-bed houses and five three-bed houses. They will be occupied by residents from the council's waiting list when completed in autumn 2019.

The initial phase of 28 new homes at Southview - costing £5m - is on target for completion this winter. The contractor, Stepnell, has secured the tender to build the additional homes.

Planning permission is already in place.

The extra money comes from commuted sum funding from developers and capital grants from central Government.
