Grovelands Way Warminster - traffic calming to go in despite objections

As part of the planning consent for the Victoria Fields development in Warminster Persimmon Homes were required to provide traffic calming on Grovelands Way. However when the details of the scheme went out for consultation there were objections from a couple of residents and from Frome Minibuses, whilst there was no support for the proposals from anyone.

Wiltshire Council decided to reconsult before abandoning the idea, at which point Warminster Town Council and some other residents came forward in support, so now the scheme is to be implemented.

The objectors said there was no speeding problem on the road so the calming was unnecessary. Frome Minibuses say the cushions - which are designed to be straddled by wider vehicles such as buses and ambulances - still have the potential to cause damage.

The council also took into account that in January this year a resident was killed on Grovelands Way after being smashed into by a car driver.
