Highways consultancy - Mouchel out Atkins in.

24 Jul 2012

The contract to provide technical support for the maintenance and management of Wiltshire's roads was approved by the WC cabinet today (24 July).

A number of consultancy companies were interested in bidding for the contract and cabinet members reviewed the results of this tendering process and awarded the contract to Atkins.

The specialist advice provided by Atkins will include bridge design, major highway reconstruction and surfacing, traffic engineering, transport planning, supervising contractors' work, street lighting maintenance and achieving green targets.

Atkins are one of the largest infrastructure construction companies in the UK. They were selected on the basis of both quality and cost and will work with the in-house team providing expertise to achieve improvements to roads in Wiltshire.

Previous contractors Mouchel have worked for the council in delivering the highways service since 1999.
