Completion of the road is scheduled for some time next summer.

Wiltshire Council has published details of speed limits and weight restrictions in the area once the gap road, and the extension of Leap Gate through to West Ashton Road, are completed.

The original conditions imposed by West Wilts District Council included a requirement for a low-noise surface and for a scheme to be drawn up explaining how the noise impact for surrounding residents would be minimised. A 40mph limit was also specified for road safety and environmental reasons. However Wiltshire Council believes those conditions are unnecessary. There will be a 50mph limit on the Gap road, and on the southern section of Leap Gate. On West Ashton Road the limit will be reduced to 50mph out to the West Ashton crossroads, with a short length of 40mph around the new roundabout.

All residential roads around the Hilperton Gap will have 7.5 tonne weight limits on them, including the current B3105 through the village. The limit on the short length of Canal Road between the Horse Road roundabout and the Consortium roundabout will be revoked as this becomes part of the main road network.
