At a meeting of the Council in April all the councillors voted to commit to a firm policy of taking enforcement action against people identified as dumping rubbish.

At long last the Council is supporting the calls by councillors Toby Robson and Stan Pajak for more prosecutions.

Dumped rubbish has sadly become the norm in many parts of our town and at the meeting Stan Pajak asked to ensure Eastcott is a priority for action. In Swindon between April 2018 and February 2019 a staggering 47 tonnes of fly tipped waste was removed but this is perhaps not the true picture as the Council cannot remove fly tipped waste on private land making thousands of people victims of waste tipping.

The Council will invest in further CCTV to help police indentify fly tippers and has committed to prosecuting all people identified without exception. Toby who has appeared many times in the press in his battle against fly tipped waste and taking part in community and Focus clear ups says "It's a start in making it the priority it deserves and needs to be matched by more education and making it easier to dispose of waste."
