Midnight in Melksham

Conservative Wiltshire Council seems determined to burn up as much taxpayers money as possible, and miss its climate change commitments, by lighting the empty car park at the temporary Melksham offices late into the night.
Melksham Councillor Jon Hubbard has blasted the council for wasting money on the car park, saying ""The Conservatives seem determined to add insult to injury, lighting up the car park where they have already wasted £370,000 of Wiltshire tax payer's money on resurfacing."
"If it was good enough for teachers and parents when George Ward School was located on the site I can't understand why they spent £370,000 on improvements for councillors and County Hall staff who have been relocated while their £22m new offices are built in Trowbridge
"But to see the lights left on late into the night when there is no-one in the offices is just unbelievable. It is clear that the Conservatives just don't practice what they preach.
"They are telling residents that we all need to tighten our belts and spend less money - yet they can waste money on leaving the lights on long after people have gone home.
"They tell us we all need to cut down on our energy usage, yet they can leave the lights on in an empty car park, after all the staff have gone home for the night
"This is a 'Do as I say, not as I do' council."
Councillor Hubbard has thanked local residents who made contact to warn about the wasted energy.
