Following the decision by the Conservative 'cabinet' in October to implement a new senior management model WC Chief Executive Andrew Kerr took the option to apply for voluntary redundancy.

The plan was also for one other member of the top management team to go. However none of the four corporate directors applied for voluntary redundancy so they had to compete to see who stayed and who went. Deputy leader John Thompson subsequently announced that Carolyn Godfrey, Sue Redmond and Carlton Brand will get the three top jobs, so the former Chief Exec of Kennet District Council Mark Boden got his P45.

Andrew Kerr officially left the authority on November 11th, though in practice he hadn't been taking an active role in the council since the decision to dispose of his services was announced several weeks earlier.
