More houses for Marlborough and Melksham but not for Chippenham

10 Feb 2016

Wiltshire Council's strategic planning committee meeting on Wednesday February 10th considered applications for over 1100 homes on green field sites.

They were: 500 houses at Barrow Farm Chippenham; 175 at Salisbury Road Marlborough; 450 at Spa Road Melksham.

Planning officers recommended approval subject to conditions and legal agreements for the Melksham and Marlborough sites, but refusal for the Chippenham application, though in this case the developers have already appealed on the grounds on non-determination.

Committee members agreed with their officers and permitted the Marlborough and Melksham schemes whilst stating they would have refused the Chippenham one had they been able to do so - the decision will be made by a government inspector.

Also on the agenda an application for a gypsy site at Bath Road Warminster was permitted.
