New customer service point not to be sneezed at
Anyone snuffing it in Devizes will be able to get registered at WC's new 'customer service point' in the town as of today (26 September).
The offices based in Snuff Street will be open weekdays from 8:30am-5:30pm and will provide a range of services.
Customers will be able to book appointments for any Wiltshire Council service, and the team will also be able to answer general enquiries. These will include housing benefits, housing accommodation and council tax with specialist advice available for public protection and planning. In addition, people will be able to register births, deaths and marriages by appointment.
The opening of the customer service point follows the closure of the Browfort offices and is part of the council's plan to asset-strip the old District Councils whilst ensuring people still have access to the services they need. This plan will see the council save around £85m over 25 years.
Wiltshire Council cabinet member for resources, John Noeken said: "It was important we maintained our presence in Devizes and I am delighted these new offices are now available to the public. The fact we will be in a central location means we are visible and easily accessible. We also hope it will bring in increased footfall to the area and boost the local economy."
