Trowbridge Area Board on March 16th heard a presentation from librarian Basil Nankivill on the new library. Opening is scheduled for mid-September. The old library will close a few days beforehand to give time to shift the books etc. There will be some new stock and the number of public computer terminals will be increased. There will also be dedicated parking spaces for library users.

The AB also gave its backing to the project to turn the Town Hall into an arts centre. A number of grants were given out to jubilee projects. In addition Trowbridge Amateur Swimming Club got £5,000 towards organising an open swimming event, Trowbridge Arts Festival were allocated £4,877, and the town's Islamic Cultural Centre were given £2,660 to run a youth project. An application from West Ashton for a laptop projector for community use was refused, and a request for £5,000 from the World Evangelism Bible Church for a project to help terminally ill people was deferred for more information.
