Nightclub gets go-ahead

Following a hearing on January 17th Wiltshire Council has approved a variation of the licence of Harvey's Night Club and Sports Bar (Formerly Putters Mini Golf Bar), at 35 Church Street, Trowbridge. However the club's request for permission to play music until 3am at weekends was declined and a cut-off time of 1.30am for music and a 2am closing time were imposed.

Objections to the scheme had come from the council's environmental health team, and from residents of flats within the same building as the nightclub. Concerns were expressed that despite sound insulation works having been carried out the noise for residents both from the music and from customers leaving the premises could become a nuisance.

As well as the restrictions on opening hours a number of conditions were imposed, including the need to keep the sound of music below certain decibel levels, and to employ door staff at weekends.

The club has the right to appeal against the council's decision to the Magistrates Court.
