Non-sticky stickers hit green bin collection

Wiltshire Conservatives voted in February to charge you £40 per year to empty your garden waste bins. In West Wiltshire the green bins were introduced by the old District Council, and were free as a service to residents.

Paid for collections started last week. Stickers stuck on the bins were supposed to tell the collectors which bins to empty. However the stickers weren't sticky so they're not sticking. If you have a non-sticky sticker you can take it back and get a sticky sticker.

WC says that by 17 May, 48,000 residents had registered, and the service for these started from Monday 15 June.

Since 17 May, a further 20,000 residents have registered for the service, so the total number is 68,000.

A collection day letter and sticky sticker will be posted to these late residents this week, and collections for those households will start during the fortnight commencing 29 June.

For any further sign ups, residents will receive the letter and sticky sticker within two weeks and will be able to use the service as soon as they receive their sticky sticker and stick it to their garden waste bin lid.
