Outdoor Education Centres up for sale

Reacting to the news that Wiltshire Council has received bids for its two Outdoor Education Centres, the Council's Opposition Leader and Lib Dem Group Leader, Cllr Ian Thorn said, "We have fought hard to stop the behind closed doors decision to shut Wiltshire Council's Outdoor Education Centres at Braeside and Oxenwood.

I am glad that the ruling Conservative Cabinet listened to our call for a delay in their closure ‎and an extension to the deadline for "expressions of interest" in these Centres.

It is good news that the Council has received these expressions of interest. If Wiltshire Council will not run these Centres then, in the interests of our young people, they must be handed over to a not-for-profit group that will. They should not be sold to a private company to run for a profit."
