Protest to mark end of planning 'consultation'

Monday August 9th is the last day on which people can comment on Wiltshire Council's plans for house-building in the county, and environmental organisations are planning to hold a demonstration at County Hall against what they see as a blueprint for more greenfield site development at a time when town centres are decaying.

23 organisations including Campaign for the Protection of Rural England, Campaign for a better Trowbridge, Trowbridge Civic Society and the White Horse Alliance have grouped together to deliver the message to the council that the type of developer-friendly, car-based, out-of-town housing allocations being proposed in the Core Strategy document are outdated and hostile to the wishes of residents, who would prefer to see derelict town centre sites brought into use.

The protest will be at 4pm - one hour before the consultation closes.
