Rubbish revisited

18 May 2018

Plans for radical changes to the waste and recycling collections have been shelved by WC. (See previous article).

The good news though is that we'll be able to recycle a wider range of plastics.

From 30 July residents will still use their black box for glass, paper, cans and textiles, but the blue lidded bin will take plastic pots, tubs and trays and drink and food cartons as well as plastic bottles and cardboard.

There are no changes to collection dates.

WC say they will continue to work with Hills Waste to make further efficiencies and improvements to the services and collection rounds to make it easier for people to recycle.

The change from the original plan has been caused by Hills not getting planning consent for the reprocessing sites they would have needed for the proposed new system.
