Should WC invest in the smoking industry?
The BBC has reported that many councils including Wiltshire are hoping to make money from smoking by investing in the industry. However whilst the financial arm of the council has put £1,100,000 into promoting smoking the public health division, which is the responsibility of corporate director Maggie Rae, is supposed to be encouraging smokers to give up.

"Athletics, basketball and cricket camps will be offered to young people across Wiltshire this summer in an effort to encourage more young people to play sport.
Week long Star:track athletics camps will be held in Salisbury, Marlborough and Calne while SlamDunkz basketball camps will be in Trowbridge, Chippenham and Marlborough. Sloggerz cricket camps will also be held at Bradford-on-Avon cricket club and Burbage cricket club.
This is part of Wiltshire Council's cunning plan to support the development of basketball and athletics in the county and to attract more young people into local sports clubs. All camps run from 10am to 3pm and will focus on offering skills and drills in the morning, and competitions in the afternoon. Participants at StarTrack athletics camps will all receive a goody bag and each week will end in a mini decathlon, while the Sloggerz cricket camps will feature mini test matches every day.
Jonathon Seed, cabinet member with responsibility for leisure, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for young people from Wiltshire to experience high quality, sport specific, skills coaching from qualified coaches. These are three popular sports. I think that athletics captured the public's imagination last summer, and the Ashes will ensure cricket is prominent this year. It's therefore important to give our young people access to sports that they are enjoying on the television so they can experience them first hand."
