Following lengthy campaigns by parish councils and residents Wiltshire Council has agreed to reduce the speed limit on the B3098 from Westbury throuth Bratton, Edington, Erlestoke and on to Urchfont from the national limit down to 50mph.

In the final phase of consultation on the proposals the council received four objections and one letter of support, though only one objection was to the principle of reducing the limit. The others wanted lower limits and the supporter was under the impression that the 30 zone at Westbury was to be extended.

There will be no change to existing 30 limit areas. The reduction from 60 to 50 will apply to the stretches of road between the villages.
