Taking Speeding Seriously

24 May 2019

Cllr Chris Hurst is keen to support residents throughout Royal Wootton Bassett who have raised road safety and speeding concerns with him.

Chris is currently supporting a group of active residents on Bath Road who are in the early stages of setting up a community speedwatch group.

A recent metrocount on Bath Road proved that 85% of traffic was travelling at 35.7mph or just below. This means the road qualifies for community speedwatch.

Chris says that he would like to see more of our roads monitored but Wiltshire Police have stringent policies which means some roads do not qualify. Chris organised a metrocount for Nore Marsh Road in 2018 but the road fell below the average speed needed to qualify for speedwatch.
