Teffont development permitted

Wiltshire Council's southern area planning committee recently gave permission for a new dwelling in Teffont. Then the developers came back with amended plans to build a loft conversion and a double garage.

The site is in front of Fitz Farmhouse on the main road through the village. Neighbours objected to the original proposal and a petition against the development was submitted. However in recommending permission the planning officer said that: "The proposed dwelling would be of an appropriate scale and design to the locality, preserving the character of the Conservation Area and Housing Restraint Area. There would be no significant adverse impacts upon the amenities of neighbours and appropriate access, parking and turning facilities would be provided so that the development would be acceptable in highway terms. Subject to conditions the development would be safe from flooding and would not harm archaeological or ecological interests."

Planners are also happy with the revised proposals, though again the parish council has objected on the grounds of overdevelopment.

The application was due to be decided at the southern area planning committee on Thursday 28th July but was deferred until the meeting of the committee on August 18th, where councillors agreed with the officers and gave permission.
