The Core strategy - Wiltshire Council's plans for Warminster

A huge housing development will fill the space between Warminster and its bypass to the west of the town. The allocation starts around Folly Farm and extends across to Bath Road, with a thin buffer between the houses and the A36 and an additional employment area west of Bath Road opposite the Crusader Park area.

This will provide 900 of the 1650 houses proposed for the town. Of the remainder 172 are already built and 390 have planning permission. That means land still has to be found for about 190 further homes.

In the surrounding villages 120 new homes will be completed during the plan period (2006 to 2026). 81 of these have already been built or have permission, so a trickle of infill housing in places such as Codford, Chitterne, Maiden Bradley and Chapmanslade will achieve that.

The overall number of houses required in the Warminster Community Area (1,770) has not changed since the abolition of the Regional Spatial Strategy.
