Tilshead garage can open longer

The garage on the A360 at Tilshead has been successful in an application to open until 10pm each evening instead of the current closing time of 8pm. A licensing hearing held in Devizes on Friday May 25th allowed the extension despite an objection from neighbours who said the garage generated large amounts of noise, which would be worse with later hours.

In practice the only part of the operation requiring a license was liquor sales - the garage could sell petrol and groceries to any hour without having to get permission. Councillors decided it was unlikely that the off-license part of the business would generate a nuisance in itself, so the license was granted with conditions to minimise the potential for any disturbance to neighbours.
