Tisbury parking and speed limit changes confirmed.

In September 2011 planning permission was granted for a development of 90 houses and 3,800sqare metres of business floorspace on land adjacent to Hindon Lane, Tisbury. At the time, much of the opposition towards the planning application was focused on the impact of additional traffic on the road network. Hindon Lane was of particular concern, with increased vehicle speed and obstruction to traffic flow cited as frequent objections.
As part of the planning agreement, contributions were agreed with the developer for improvements to Hindon Lane. These included a speed table at the junction with the development's access road, and an extension to the existing 30 mph speed limit. These are intended to reduce vehicle speed, both past the development and on approach to the more built-up sections of Hindon Lane.
Following consultation with Tisbury Parish Council and local residents in June 2011 it was also agreed to consider two lengths of 'No Waiting at any Time' on Hindon Lane. These restrictions were intended to improve traffic flow and visibility, firstly around the double bend adjacent to numbers 1-8, and secondly by the vehicular access points to the properties Tisbury House and Tahoa. However, because of limited parking availability on Hindon Lane, it was agreed with residents that the proposed waiting restrictions adjacent to numbers 1-8 would not be implemented unless alternative parking provision could be provided by the developer to the rear of the properties. This now appears unlikely to materialise, so this part of the scheme will not be brought in.
To save money Wiltshire Council has also included within the Traffic Regulation Order two further waiting restriction proposals in Tisbury. These are the introduction of 'No Waiting at any Time' restrictions in Park
Road, and a dual-use loading/limited waiting bay in the High Street.
