Tisbury Station Works and Housing proposal

Tisbury residents have been invited to have their say on the plans to build 86 new homes and a care home in Tisbury.
Tisbury Community Homes has launched a public consultation on the outline proposals for the former Station Works site, situated to the south of Tisbury and accessed via Jobbers Lane. They state the Station Road development proposed would replace an "existing outdated employment site" and provide 86 new homes to meet the local need in the area as well as a 70-bed care home.
Tisbury Community Homes says 86 per cent of the properties would be houses while 14 per cent would be flats, whilst the Care Home would provide a safe and secure home for older people within the village and they estimate provide approximately 120 quality jobs for local people. They continue to say that the development will also provide affordable housing to serve the local community.
The plans also include public open space, a "safe and dedicated" vehicle access with separate pedestrian and cycle access from Jobbers Lane, "new and improved" pedestrian and cycle routes to the village as well as improving access to the station and the open countryside.
Parking spaces for all the homes and the care home would also be provided as part of the plans.
Land along the western boundary would be set aside for the potential future dualling of railway tracks or other improvements to the station.
The plans also say that the eastern bore of the railway bridge would be closed to vehicles and a pedestrian and cycle underpass would be created.
Traffic signals and a pedestrian crossing to control vehicle movements under the bridge, and to allow pedestrians to cross to the footpath into the village centre, would also be introduced.
