Urchfont Manor going cheap

Following its closure as an Adult Education Centre the property is now being sold. Because cash-strapped Wiltshire Council is desperate for the money the Manor is being sold cheaply, with a guide price of just £1,800,000 for this "architectural gem in a glorious setting" as advertised in this week's Bath Chronicle's property pages.
The Chron goes on to describe it as an "Elegant Grade II* manor house offering c.21,399 sq ft of accommodation. The property is situated in mature grounds, including a walled garden, together with secondary accommodation in the former coach house and stable block. Last used as a residential training centre yet has the potential to be restored to a wonderful family house or may be suitable for alternative uses, subject the necessary consents. In all about 25 acres. Further five lots also available,"
In 2008 the Manor was valued at £6million.
