'Visit Wiltshire' website launched
VisitWiltshire has launched a brand new tourism website, www.visitwiltshire.co.uk.
The new website is being promoted extensively to UK and international markets through a number of digital marketing initiatives - including, for the first time ever, video advertising on the London Underground. A showcase film-reel will be running daily across 13 stations on a total of 45 screens from 29 October until 12 November.
The revamped www.visitwiltshire.co.uk includes information in the form of photography, social media and video content, with an increased focus on arts and culture, things to do and outdoor activities. There is information on bookings, with more focus on accommodation and special offers, planning advice, itineraries and member pages; media information with a revamped latest news section and enhanced social media links.
In the next phase of website development planned for 2013, VisitWiltshire will be looking at introduction of a new mobile site, foreign language sites, an online shop, and widgets/tripadvisor reviews.
Fiona Errington, marketing manager, VisitWiltshire, said: "Our aim in developing this site has been to raise awareness of Wiltshire's fantastic tourism offer, inspiring new visitors, and encouraging repeat visitors to stay longer and explore the whole of the county."
The new website has been re-designed by VisitWiltshire with its Online Marketing Group, members of which have been instrumental in helping design the visual aspects of the site. The site uses the award winning New Mind e-tourism platform which combines state of the art e-tourism technology with tourism website design, and online marketing capabilities.
Richard Veal, managing director New Mind, said: "At a time of increased competition for visitor spend, it is great to see a destination that truly understands the importance of focusing on its unique proposition. VisitWiltshire came up with an innovative twist on the usual tourism web site design and the end result really feels like you are holding an augmented reality window on everything the destination has to offer."
A key objective of the re-development has been to raise the profile of VisitWiltshire's 450 members on the site by increasing member website visibility and traffic and improving marketing, and search engine optimisation.
