Call-IT! is a telephone support line for anyone interested in doing voluntary work in Wiltshire - 0845 521 6224.
Anybody seeking to help out in their local community can Call-IT! to find out what volunteering opportunities are available in the area.
Call-IT! is a new telephone line setup as part of Volunteer Centre Wiltshire, a service of GROW. GROW is a charitable service that has been commissioned by Wiltshire Council. GROW offers support & information to individuals, voluntary organisations and community groups across Wiltshire.
Call-IT! will be answered Mondays and Wednesdays from 9am - 2pm. At other times an answerphone gives information about volunteering in your community.
People volunteer for a number of different reasons, ranging from a desire to learn new skills, increasing employment chances, to try new experiences, or to have fun and make a difference in the community.
The range of volunteering opportunities is enormous. Volunteers can befriend an older person, support a young person, get physical restoring Wiltshire's canals and waterways, do DIY in care homes or even a spot of gardening. You can volunteer to get experience in administration, fundraising, event organising, working with children or in the media. Volunteering can be for as many or as few hours as you can spare, some opportunities require as little as an hour a month, others a day a week.
Lesley Bennett, Chair of the Board of Directors said "This new Call-IT! telephone number means that anyone can speak with a volunteering advisor about local opportunities. This handy one volunteering number has never been possible before in Wiltshire."
Sandie Lewis, from Wiltshire Council said "We are delighted that this exciting new service will help us to expand volunteering across the County. The impact of volunteering on communities is tremendously positive and we look forward to the growth of volunteering as the project develops."
