Northacre Renewable Energy Limited want to build a renewable energy centre on land between Hills Northacre Resource Recovery Centre (Northacre RRC) and Arla Foods Westbury Dairies at Stephenson Road, Northacre Industrial Park, Westbury.

A planning application has been submitted and can be seen on the WC website here.

At the heart of Northacre Renewable Energy is an Advanced Thermal Treatment (ATT) technology called gasification. The centre will convert Solid Recovered Fuel and commercial and industrial waste otherwise destined for landfill into a gas which will be used on site to generate 22 megawatts of power per annum. A substation will be constructed on site to enable the electricity produced to be exported to the National grid. Find out more here
