Where next for Corsham’s market?

Corsham has had a market town charter since 1285 but the few stalls that occupy a corner of the Newlands Road Car Park every Tuesday hardly constitute a proper market. Wiltshire's stretched council services make it unlikely that they can change things.

Local Liberal Democrat and Town Councillor, Neville Farmer believes successful markets boost town centres and community spirit. He is working with other Councillors to explore starting a new market and he's interested to hear what you want.

"Melksham and Trowbridge have new monthly themed street markets attracting business to their town centres," he says. "The monthly Craft Market in the Springfield Campus is a success, but it is away from the High Street. I'd love to see a monthly weekend street market offering local produce and art. I'd like to know what type of market would attract Corsham's people, including how often and on what days."
