Wiltshire Core Strategy - next steps
WC has submitted the Wiltshire Core Strategy Pre-Submission Development Plan Document including proposed changes, part of the Local Development Framework to the Secretary of State for independent examination. The underlying principles of the strategy seek to manage future development to ensure that communities have an appropriate balance, of jobs, services, facilities and homes. The Core Strategy Pre-Submission Document makes strategic site-specific allocations. The Core Strategy Submission Document covers the whole area of Wiltshire except for that part where the New Forest National Park is the local planning authority.
The Core Strategy Pre-Submission Document and supporting documentation submitted to the Secretary of State are available to view online at www.wiltshire.gov.uk. The accompanying documents include:

- Habitat Regulations Assessment
- Equality Impact Assessment
- Submission Policies Map
- A regulation 22 c statement of consultation

The Wiltshire Core Strategy DPD will now be subjected to an independent examination to be conducted by the Planning Inspectorate. This is a continuous process running from the date of submission through to the receipt of the appointed Planning Inspector's Report. Part of this process will involve hearing sessions where those invited to attend will have the opportunity to respond to matters raised by the appointed Planning Inspector. These hearing sessions are likely to take place in September or October 2012. Once confirmed, all details relating to the examination process will be advertised, made available online and sent to all respondents.
