Wiltshire Home Improvement Loans

Home Improvement Grants will soon probably be a thing of the past as the government cuts funding to councils, so Wiltshire is developing a scheme of Home Improvement Loans to replace them.

The loans will be available for any homeowner or private sector landlord wishing to improve the quality or energy efficiency of their house. Interest rates are lower than those commercially available. The rate will be 4% at the beginning of the scheme.

Applicants will be means tested for both income and capital. There are a variety of pay-back mechanisms, from a simple regular payment until the loan and interest are repaid, to more compex schemes whereby the loan is repaid on sale or transfer of the property. In most cases the loan would be secured against the value of the property.

Disabled Facilities Grants will continue to be awarded as previously.

For details of the scheme and to see if you'd be eligible please contact the council.
