Yurts for Thoulstone.

14 Aug 2014

The Mongols terrorised Asia and Eastern Europe in the thirteenth century, and soon their tents could be being pitched in West Wiltshire. WC has approved a planning application for a camp site on part of the old Thoulstone Park golf course.

Four 'yurts' will be erected, with space provided for up to 40 conventional tents and sites for caravans. The organisers expect the site to be used for weddings and ceremonies, conferences or education camps.

The site will have 'eco-friendly' wood-fuelled showers, with a sauna and hot tub, compost toilets, and with electricity generated from solar power. There will also be a 4.7m high 'ceremonial temple'. The campsite structures will be removed over the winter.
